Serena Wuytack - Artist

Serena Wuytack (b. 1984, Antwerp) is a visual artist and choreographer. She grew up in a
world of activism and creativity. She was barely 6 years old when she convinced her father to take her to the bronze foundry in Barcelona. She shares the same passion for creatively
pushing the boundaries of thought. As a visual artist and choreographer, she weaves the power of transformation with visual poetry.
Serena graduated in 2006 from the Dance and Choreography program at the Antwerp Conservatory.
Her work spans dance, sculpture, and installation, where body, space, and time converge. She often collaborates with artists from various disciplines. In her performances, her unifying power is further expressed. She blends the centuries-old dance language of flamenco with her unique contemporary style, creating dance performances with circus artists.
Driven by her commitment, she develops art projects that open new paths for young people in vulnerable communities. For example, she works with street children in Mexico and with young people in slums in Venezuela.
At the same time, she develops her own visual language through sculptures and distinctive jewelry collections. A quest for a formal language populated by movements that have transcended the dimension of time.
Her visual work is exhibited and acclaimed both at home and abroad. As an artist, she is
driven by a belief in the power of vulnerability.
“For me, art is a discovery of what lies hidden in the deeper layers of our inner
landscape. It challenges you to strike a balance between the visible and the invisible, with feeling
as your (only) guide.”
