Serena did her pedagogical training as a dance teacher at the Conservatory of Antwerp. She was a guest lecturer at the KASK. Serena is a very passionate teacher and gives several workshops to all ages. She is specialized in creatively guiding people with physical and / or mental limitations.
Serena teaches Salsa and Merengue workshops (funded by the World Centre). These workshops are a meeting with Latin American dance and culture. Serena has danced in Madera Company, which worked toegether with salsa stars such as Tito Puente and Celia Cruz. Furthermore, she perfected herself in Salsa, Merengue and other dances in Cuba, Mexico and Venezuela.
Serena also brings educational workshops about Latin American issues, amongst which the problems of the street children in Mexico. She always pairs this off with dance. Serena can testify from her own experiences, linkin them to the past and present north-south problems. These workshops are available for all ages and can be adapted for children, teenagers, adults and senior citizens). Choices are between Indian dances or salsa and merengue.
Serena has workshops on contemporary dance, movement theatre, authentic movement, hip hop, dance expression and many more.
